On Wednesday 29th April, it was the turn of Cardiff to host Varsity at home for the third year running, but before the much anticipated main event of the rugby match, there was the small matter of the lacrosse matches to take care of.

Unfortunately, it seemed that the men were on the back foot from the word go finishing each quarter a couple of goals behind Swansea. It was quite easy to spot the sense of personal and team frustration at this as Cardiff had already managed to beat Swansea twice this season. Final score: Cardiff 5 – 7 Swansea. Goals from John Baileff (x3), Scott Belland and, well, I can’t remember the who the other was from – any takers?!

Mens Varsity: Scott Belland

The women on the otherhand ran away with their match with a conclusive 26 – 2 victory, including goals from every (non-injured) field player! Quite an achievement.

Womens Varsity: Philippa Tyler

The final event of the day, the Mens 1st Rugby, finished the way it should – a win to Cardiff! Final score: 9 -6. Winners of the Varsity Shield to be announced.
